We recommend these supplements for the nutritional needs mentioned in our articles. We always try to find you:
1. The best quality products. Poor quality doesn’t help anyone – and it can do harm!
2. The lowest prices that still delivers quality nutrients.
We feel Vitacost sets the best overall price-per-quality. Its house brand is one of the best quality-per-dollar choices. (We receive nothing from these companies but your good health.) Sometimes, we go to other sources to get a particular product or price. We never sacrifice quality; we just want it for as little cost as possible. Puritan’s Pride, Swanson’s and Amazon are good sources for some items.
The supplements are alphabetical, with the best source(s) following:
Children’s Multivitamin / Mineral
It’s very important to find a chewable your child likes. The following multivitamin ranks #3 out of 110 rated kid’s vitamins (others in the top 10 are hard to get).
Source’s “Mega-Kid” is very reasonable (just over $5 a month). Feedback places this as the “best-tasting, kid-friendly” chewable.
Coconut Oil
The best source for coconut oil, both virgin (with taste and smell) and expeller-pressed (without coconut taste or odor) I have found is Tropical Traditions.
Curcumin & Bromelain
(For turmeric Inflammation control and absorption.) Natural Factors makes a good formula. We buy it from Vitacost because it is easier to add when ordering other things, but there are other outlets.
D-Ribose
Swanson’s has a slightly lower price but Vitacost‘s NSI brand is close if you are ordering other things from them.
Fiber
Our favorite is ProFibe at Vitacost.
Iodoral & Lugol
Two excellent sources (tab and liquid) of Iodine at Amazon.
K12 s. salivarius – Probiotic
Ear, Nose & Throat friendly bacteria. Costco sells BioGuard for $15.95 – with occasional sales. Other K12 products (gum etc.) are available Here.
Lactoferrin Capsules
For Apo-Lactoferrin, the best value we found is Jarrow’s Formula at Vitacost or Swanson.
L-Lysine
For herpes and shingles use (see Articles): NSI brand at Vitacost.
Magnesium
We prefer Source Naturals Ultra, 1-2 caps a day, at Vitacost.
Miso
Fermented soy for radiation protection. Several choices at Amazon.
Modifilan
Good source of brown seaweed (alginate) at Amazon.
Multivitamin/mineral
For adults, the best quality price is our “Ultimate Foundation.”
Probiotics
The best I’ve seen anywhere is the ’15-35′ (35 billion of 15 probiotics) at Vitacost.
Prostate
Vitacost has come up with an extremely good formula in ProstaHeart, NSI 3007578. Two capsules are for treatment purposes. (Our Ultimate Foundation provides a maintenance amount.)
Resveratrol
Caps: Country Life, 100 mg at Amazon. Liquid: Lifetime #LTV 2290398 at Vitacost. (For extra potency, uncap and stir in 1/2 bottle of Resveratrol Forte at Vitacost #ENZ 1003279.)
Seanol (Ecklonia cava, or brown algae)
Doctor’s Best, #0001961 at Vitacost, or Nutricology #NCL012 at Swanson’s.
Sambucol
Buy only Sambucol or Nature’s Way Sambucus – the U.S. licensed distributor. (Other elderberry brands are made differently.) I prefer the sugar-free bottles. The 4 oz. bottles reduces opened bottles laying around. Children’s dosage is simply 1/2 the adult dose, so it is cheaper using an adult bottle. Lozengers are ok, but a bottle is also easy to take with you. Either at Swanson’s or Amazon.
Selenium
200 mg, NSI #3009008 at Vitacost.
Stevia
Surprising, taste varies! In a blind taste, our office staff chose the NSI #3006861 stevia over Sweetleaf and 2 other powders (NSI was cheaper too). Vita cost.
Vitamin A
10,000 IU at DL #7107.
Vitamin C
1,000 mg, NSI #3007806 – Vitacost. Crystals are also convenient, 1.5 mg at DL #82145.
Vitamin D-3
General: 2,000 IU caps, NSI – Vitacost. For heavy flu defense: 10,000 IU liquid at DL #200039.
Xclear
Xylitol nasal wash, 1.5 oz at Vitacost.
Zinc Lozenges
K12 might work better for long term usage but, for an immediate cold problem, a lower 14 mg zinc lozenge is better because it allows you to take it more often during a day. Quantum Thera-Zinc at Vitacost.
